 Bariatrics is the study of obesity -- its causes, prevention and treatment. If you choose to learn more about bariatric surgery, you will be scheduled to attend an initial screening where you will have a chance to meet St. Joseph's Area Health Services Bariatrics Team, meet with a dietitian and social worker to review the procedure, and ask any questions you might have.
The evaluation process usually takes from one to three months and gives people time to decide about the surgery.
