St. Joseph’s patient care administrator named state nursing board president

Deb Haagenso, SJAHS Vice President of Patient Care

Deb Haagenson, St. Joseph’s Area Health Services Vice President of Patient Care, was recently elected President of the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Her term as board president took effect Jan. 1.

Haagenson was appointed to the 16-member board by Gov. Tim Pawlenty in 2009.

The board’s mission is to ensure that the public will have access to competent, safe and ethical practitioners in the profession. They are responsible for licensing and disciplining nurses and approving nurse education programs.

“It is a privilege and an honor to serve the citizens of Minnesota through the efforts of the Board of Nursing that are ultimately focused on the safe delivery of nursing care,” says Haagenson. “I am both excited and humbled to serve as the Board’s President.”

Haagenson previously served as North Dakota Board of Nursing President and was a member of the North Dakota Board of Nursing Practice Committee.
