Florence Nightingale service coming May 10 |

| Wounded soldiers of the Crimean War revered the "Lady of the Lamp" who tended to their needs during nighttime hours. The work of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern-day nursing, helped to save lives by improving conditions for patients and advocating for their care. More than 100 years since her death, The Nightingale Pledge is spoken by entry level nurses as they start their mission in health care. St. Joseph's Area Health Nurses would like to honor all retired, practicing and future nurses from the lakes area by inviting them to a Florence Nightingale Service on Tuesday, May 10 at Riverside United Methodist Church. A light supper will be provided at 5 p.m. with a Nightingale Service to start at 6:15 p.m. The service is held annually in conjunction with Nightingale's birth and as part of National Nurses' Week. Whether active or retired, Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and nursing students in any field or department, are welcome to attend. National Nurses' Week, "Nurses Trusted to Care," is a chance to honor the local nursing work force, past and present, for their dedication to their healing mission, passion for their profession and their commitment to excellent care. Please RSVP by May 6 by calling Kathy at 218-237-5503. Riverside United Methodist is located at 1005 Park Avenue North on Highway 71 north. |
