St. Joseph’s Auxiliary to host Go Red For Women luncheon

Go Red For Women

The public is invited to rally behind the fight against heart disease in women during a Go Red For Women luncheon sponsored by St. Joseph’s Area Health Services Auxiliary.

The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids. Cost is $10 per person.

The American Heart Association notes that heart disease claimed the lives of nearly 500,000 women in 2004. They created Go Red For Women, a passionate initiative designed to empower women to take control of their heart health. In addition to a heart-healthy luncheon, participants can enjoy educational opportunities. Guest speakers will include: “Women’s Heart Health” by St. Joseph’s Internal Medicine physician ; “Healthy Nutrition” by dietitian Lisa Marthaler; and Amy Erickson, exercise physiologist, and Angel Clark, personal trainer, who will share expertise on cardio exercise.

Free blood pressure and body mass index screenings will be available from 1 to 2 p.m. following the educational sessions. Door prizes will be awarded.

To make reservations, please call St. Joseph’s Shoppe on Pleasant at 218-237-5522 or Auxiliary President Joyce Cowman at 218-732-0992. Auxiliary members should make reservations through their group president. Reservations will be accepted through Feb. 3.
