St. Joseph's Area Health Services staff of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, speech language pathologist, athletic trainer, and support staff are all highly qualified professionals who stay current in treatment options by attending continuing education programs.
Our Rehab Services staff will work with you in all settings of your
rehabilitation. We will help coordinate your care between all settings
including inpatient hospital stays, same day surgery, home visits,
local school, residency at Heritage Living Center as well as at our
outpatient departments located in the hospital and in Walker. Our
therapists work closely with you and your physician to share
information, emphasizing teamwork and assuring the best outcomes for
you while maintaining confidentiality.
 Physical Therapy
St. Joseph's Physical Therapy helps patients achieve their highest level of function following illness, injury, surgery or other causes.
Each patient is assessed and an individualized program is developed
depending on their particular disability and potential. Patients are an
active partner in their rehabilitation. Activities are designed to
promote and encourage the patients' return to as normal and full a life
as possible. Exercises, therapeutic treatments, and patient education
help the patient by decreasing pain and improving conditions.

Speech and Language Pathology
Our speech and language pathologist is dedicated to the needs of individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. Mike Mattson, a Masters of Science, Certified Clinical Competence, Speech Language Pathologist (MS/CCC/SLP), offers his services to schools, skilled nursing facilities, home health clients and more.
Speech therapy treatment areas at St. Joseph's cover cognitive functioning, swallowing disorders, speech, voice and language. Conditions treated through St. Joseph's speech therapy include:

Athletic Training
Athletic Training services provided by St. Joseph's enables the athletic population to get back to sport specific activities as quickly as possible after injury. Proper evaluation, movement analysis, and sport-specific rehabilitation is performed regularly. A trainer is available for schools as well.
